| Our Philosophy Our philosophy of self-defense is best expressed in the acronym WITTS "Whatever It Takes To Survive." Our approach is based on the belief that the best way to survive violence is to avoid it all together, but if we can't, we try never to face the aggressor on their terms. We never try to out box a boxer. We never try to out wrestle a wrestler. We never try to over power someone who is bigger and stronger than us. We don't train to "fight fair." We train to cheat, to circumvent. We train to Counter Assault. In life, things can go from being peaceful and serene to explosive and violent very very quickly. If violence cannot be avoided or de-escalated, it often is important that you have trained to be the quickest, most explosive and most aggressive individual in the encounter, in order to survive it. Our goal is to prepare our students to survive violence anywhere, any time, against anyone, using whatever means are available to them. Whether that be through avoiding a situation, controlling it, escaping, or by violently taking out the aggressor(s). At Counter Assault Academy we are survivalists not stylist, so we teach anything effective and useful for survival. Areas we explore include: punching, kicking, ground fighting, close quarter combat, tactical thinking, throws, sweeps and leverages, trapping, forms, knife and stick fighting, grappling, submissions, biting, eye gouging, stomping and more... |
